TWO KEY CLUBS ATTEND MONDAY MEETING - 02/20/2018

The newly elected Lt. Governor of District 7 Key Clubs, Jenna Lasky from Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, , is shown on the left of this photo.  Jenna will begin her  official duties on March 1st and is looking forward to the challenges.  To Jenna's left is Izzy Archer, Chairperson of the Environmental Committee of the Glenbrook South High School Key Club in Glenview  On the far right of the photo is Eliza Schloss, also from Glenbrtook South Key Club, and the Chairperson  of the Commuinity Committee.  Between Izzy and Eliza is Jennifer Friedman, faculty advisor and teacher of science.  Glenbrook South does not use elected officers...


HOWIE ROMANEK EXPLAINS GENERATION Z - 02/07/2018

Our member, Howie Romanek, explains Generation Z to the membership at our weekly meeting on February 5th.  Howard is a former history teacher at Glenbrook South High School but he is still the girls basketball coach.  Howie and his girls won the state championship in 1998.  Based on information Howie distributed at the meeting, Generatiuon Z are kids that were born between 1996 and 2010.  Therefore, as of 2017, that would make their current ages range between 7 and 21.  So, if you want to learn more about Generation Z and other similiar tidbits of useful information, you'll have to join our club.  I know, Howie is laying on his side,...


KEY CLUB STUDENTS AND KIWANIANS WRAP HOLIDAY PRESENTS - 12/07/2017

Students from the two Key Clubs sponsored by our club--Glenbrook North and Glenbrook South high schools-- wrap holiday presents for families that use the services provided by Youth Services of Glenview - Northbrook.  Although not shown, the students were ably assisted by members and their spouses of the Kiwani Club of Glenview - Northbrook.  The Chicago Harley-Davidson dealership, located in Glenview on The Glen, kindly provided Youth Services with the necessary space needed to wrap the gifts.

Santa Claus comes to town to march with the Kiwanians (and some rather small friends) to distribute pretzels to people along the route of the Holiday Parade.

KEY CLUB HONORS KIWANIS VETERANS - 11/11/2017

The Kay Club of Glenbrook South High School in Glenview honored veterans of the Kiwanis Club of Glenview - Northbrook by placing photos of the veterans on a wall inside the school.  Those of us who were included were very appreciative of this effort.


CLUB DONATES $2,000 TO HURRICANE RELIEF - 10/30/2017

Glenview/Northbrook, Illinois.  The Board of Directors of the Kiwanis Club of Glenview - Northbrook today approved funds totaling $2,000 to be donated for hurricane relief to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  United for Puerto Rico, an initiative started by the First Lady of Puerto Rico, will provide 100% of the funds donated--$1,000-- to help the victims of hurricanes Irma and Maria.

 

Another $1,000 is being donated to the Caribbean Association of Independent Schools.  An overwhelming number of schools have yet to reopen, and we note that all funds donated will be used for direct relief efforts.

The Officers and Board of Directors, both outgoing and incoming, were in attendance at the installation dinner of the Kiwanis Club of Glenview - Northbrook held at the Wildfire restaurant.  Including members and all the guests, more than fifty people were in attendance.

Three Presidents were in attendance at the installation dinner of the Kiwanis Club of Glenview - Northbrook held at the Wildfire restaurant on September 25th.   CraigSolomon (left), is the Immediate Past President of the club and is the  Executive Director of the Wesley Child Care Center in Glenview, Jim Patterson is the President of the Village of Glenview and gave us some welcome remarks about service to the communities in which we live, and Mike Moylan in the incoming President of the club.  Mike is a Vice President of the Glenview Bank and Trust, a Wintrust Community bank.  Our club has had a very successful year under Craig's leadership and...
